Little Martha








Frank Leslie Withey was born in Brockton, MA. on February 19th, 1955.He attended schools in the Brockton Public School System until his graduation from Brockton High School in 1973.


At the age of twelve, Frank decided to learn to play the guitar. By the age of thirteen, Frank had become an accomplished Rock and Blues guitarist.


After graduating high school, Frank spent a year at the Berklee College of Music. Life had other plans for Frank and he left Berklee to launch his own musical career.


Frank was always a success locally and was truly appreciated by everyone involved in the local music scene. He became a well known player in the Greater Boston area.


By age 40, Frank returned to Berklee College of Music and in a few years, completed an undergraduate degree and went on to the Boston Conservatory of Music, where he receivced a Master’s Degree.


During the last few years of Frank’s life, he had been working on a “New” style of Jazz. The Frank Withey New Jazz Trio performed locally for a few years. During that time, Frank also became an instructor in the Composition Department at the Berklee College of Music.


Sadly, Frank passed on April 24, 2006. He is truly missed by those who knew him as a friend, a musician, teacher, and an amazing human being. A man who wore his heart on his sleeve and whose mind lived in a world of music, much of which he brought to this world for us all to appreciate and enjoy.
